But <strong>I actually struggled going back to sewing in September<\/strong>: not the right weather, not knowing where I wanted to start. So to get things in motion, <strong>I needed a quick-to-make and highly rewarding project. I actually discovered her blog about a year ago while she had been writing it for quite a while already. So I binge-read all her articles, which generated a to-sew list so large that it will need a lifetime to complete it&#8230; Never mind!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>V8379 is one of Emily&#8217;s favourite dress patterns (see her latest one <a href=\"http:\/\/emilyhallman.com\/2020\/05\/25\/the-orange-wrap-dress\/\">here<\/a>) and it perfectly fits my style too<\/strong>: a fitted bodice and a flared half-circle skirt, with the bonus of being a wrap! That said, <strong>the envelope illustration is far from flattering, so had I not seen Emily&#8217;s version, I would definitely not have bought this pattern ever!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"518\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/20741FCC-877C-4EDF-B60F-0BF71F2BC161.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/20741FCC-877C-4EDF-B60F-0BF71F2BC161.jpeg 518w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/20741FCC-877C-4EDF-B60F-0BF71F2BC161-204x300.jpeg 204w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 518px) 100vw, 518px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I went for a collarless version B <\/strong>&#8211; although I know these collars on wrap dresses are very DVF-esque, I just don&#8217;t find them nice at all! I kept the knee-length, which works really well for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A super quick and easy make<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This dress has a few attributes which make it the perfect candidate for a relaxed Sunday afternoon sewing session (which is actually exactly how I saw it):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It has <strong>a very limited number of pattern pieces<\/strong> (4 + 2 facings if you omit collar and sleeve bands).<\/li><li>There is <strong>absolutely no technical difficulty<\/strong>, such as a zip or buttons, as the dress simply closes with its belt.<\/li><li><strong>The fit is very forgiving<\/strong>, as the pattern is designed for knits, much more accommodating to curves than woven fabrics. Here the skirt is semi-circle so less flared than my usual but it is actually perfect for a wrap dress. <\/li><li><strong>The fit is spot-on<\/strong>: as usual with Vogue (McCall&#8217;s, Butterick), I cut a size 10 (for my FR36\/ UK8\/ US2 and E bust cup), made absolutely no adjustment anywhere, and it fits like a glove.<\/li><li>Despite it simplicity, <strong>this dress has absolutely lovely details<\/strong>: the bust pleats mentioned above and also the pretty sleeve bands.  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"681\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3B015253-389F-4AF8-9A8A-C139AD92498F-681x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8114\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3B015253-389F-4AF8-9A8A-C139AD92498F-681x1024.jpeg 681w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3B015253-389F-4AF8-9A8A-C139AD92498F-200x300.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3B015253-389F-4AF8-9A8A-C139AD92498F-768x1155.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3B015253-389F-4AF8-9A8A-C139AD92498F-1021x1536.jpeg 1021w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3B015253-389F-4AF8-9A8A-C139AD92498F-1362x2048.jpeg 1362w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3B015253-389F-4AF8-9A8A-C139AD92498F.jpeg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 681px) 100vw, 681px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>My only deviation from the original pattern was to put some iron-on interfacing around the side-opening for the belt, to strengthen it &#8211; 100% Emily&#8217;s idea and not mine I&#8217;m afraid!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This dress is a great addition to my Autumn wardrobe<\/strong>.
