I also recently discovered M7892 (only sewn once <a href=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/en\/2021\/06\/11\/sewing-ameliamccalls-m7892\/\">here<\/a>), which fully deserves to join this hall of \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I find wrap bodices particularly appropriate for larger busts <\/strong>(I am an E cup), They are both <strong>flattering and utterly practical to sew<\/strong>, as they rarely require a Full Bust Adjustment (FBA). Among the five patterns mentioned above, I made a FBA only for V9352 (fully explained <a href=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/en\/2020\/06\/20\/a-new-favourite-pattern-the-v9253-dress\/\">here<\/a>) and retrospectively I really don&#8217;t think I should have bothered.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So obviously <strong>I am always on the lookout for a new wrap dress pattern; and B6446 had caught my eye quite a while ago<\/strong>, after seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/mom.maker.model\/\">@mom.maker.model<\/a>&#8216;s gorgeous version on Instagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"737\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/89188C3E-2C83-40B2-8E73-0D35A0745F97-737x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7820\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/89188C3E-2C83-40B2-8E73-0D35A0745F97-737x1024.jpeg 737w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/89188C3E-2C83-40B2-8E73-0D35A0745F97-216x300.jpeg 216w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/89188C3E-2C83-40B2-8E73-0D35A0745F97-768x1067.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/89188C3E-2C83-40B2-8E73-0D35A0745F97.jpeg 802w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 737px) 100vw, 737px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">My two versions of B6446<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>B6646&#8217;s beauty lies in its mock-wrap bodice: the bust ease of the top piece is created by three side pleats, caught in the side seam<\/strong>. The bodice piece underneath is different, shaped with a waist dart, to avoid unwanted volume. <strong>The skirt is far less remarkable<\/strong>, with three skirt options: knee-length semi-circle, pleated midi or maxi semi-circle. Thankfully, the sash, if tied in a big bow, helps to give the ensemble a bit of coherence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Version 2: with a full circle skirt<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>There was no way I was giving-up on such a nice bodice so as soon as my first version was finished, <strong>I made a second version, this time with my favourite knee-length full circle skirt (from the M7081 dress pattern). <\/strong>This one is <strong>definitely much more like what I envisioned<\/strong>, as the volume of the skirt pairs so much better with the pleats of the bodice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">B6446 pattern review: positives, negatives and changes I made to the pattern<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t be misled by my critical view of my first make, <strong>there are many things I like about the B6446 pattern<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>As I mentioned before, <strong>I adore the clever and extremely pretty shaping of the bodice through side pleats<\/strong>; and the fact that these are not replicated on the hidden part of the bodice wrap, to avoid unnecessary volume. <\/li><li><strong>The dress fits to perfection. <\/strong>As usual with Vogue\/ Mc Call&#8217;s\/ Butterick pattern, I cut a size 10 for my UK 8\/ FR 36 \/ US 2. After making a bodice muslin, I did add 0.5cm at the waist to have a tiny bit more ease; but I absolutely no other changes. In particular, <strong>there is plenty of bust room and I did not need an FBA <\/strong>for my E cup &#8211; hurrah! <\/li><li><strong>With a fully lined bodice, the inside finish is absolutely impeccable<\/strong>. I fully line my dress bodices most of the time  anyway but it is usually not included in the pattern instructions &#8211; here it is.<\/li><li><strong>The pattern instructions are crystal clear<\/strong>, as they usually are for Butterick, Vogue and McCall&#8217;s. <strong>If you are not used to lining bodices, they will help you immensely<\/strong>, as the order of operations to get a perfect finish at the neck and arm openings is in no way straightforward.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The major negative of this pattern is the bottom. The skirts on offer are frankly uninteresting in comparison to the bodice<\/strong>. I would strongly advise you go for much more volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"681\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7F17FB64-247A-4D7C-9F12-287D9FD5CE19-681x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7665\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7F17FB64-247A-4D7C-9F12-287D9FD5CE19-681x1024.jpeg 681w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7F17FB64-247A-4D7C-9F12-287D9FD5CE19-200x300.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7F17FB64-247A-4D7C-9F12-287D9FD5CE19-768x1155.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7F17FB64-247A-4D7C-9F12-287D9FD5CE19-1021x1536.jpeg 1021w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7F17FB64-247A-4D7C-9F12-287D9FD5CE19-1362x2048.jpeg 1362w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7F17FB64-247A-4D7C-9F12-287D9FD5CE19.jpeg 1277w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 681px) 100vw, 681px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The changes I made to the pattern are the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I went for <strong>a full circle skirt <\/strong>and it was the best idea ever.<\/li><li><strong>I fully lined the skirt<\/strong>, as I find it more comfortable to wear and it gives the circle a bit more volume, without having to use a crinoline.<\/li><li>I added <strong>piping at the neckline<\/strong>, sandwiched between the main fabric and the lining. <\/li><li>I used the <strong>burrito method to finish my armholes<\/strong>, rather than following the pattern instructions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Fabric used<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For both dresses, <strong>I used cotton lawn fabric<\/strong>, lightweight but not see-through. I suspect the second one is luxurious Pima cotton, as it hardly creases when worn and it drapes beautifully. I had already used the exact same fabric for <a href=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/2020\/08\/04\/cassandre-dress-pattern-hacks\/\">a very different dress <\/a>last summer and I was thrilled to find more of it this year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"684\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/78D67E60-BA26-4708-B662-1167449E544C-684x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4567\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/78D67E60-BA26-4708-B662-1167449E544C-684x1024.jpeg 684w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/78D67E60-BA26-4708-B662-1167449E544C-200x300.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/78D67E60-BA26-4708-B662-1167449E544C-768x1149.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/78D67E60-BA26-4708-B662-1167449E544C-1027x1536.jpeg 1027w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/78D67E60-BA26-4708-B662-1167449E544C-rotated.jpeg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite my first slight miss, <strong>I am thrilled to have finally given this pattern a go<\/strong>.
