You have 3 fabric pieces in total. Insert the bobbin in the machine.<\/li>\n<li>The top thread remains a normal one, matching your fabric.<\/li>\n<li>Set the machine on a large straight stich (4\/5), while keeping standard tension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>ETAPE 5:\u00a0 START SHIRRING!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rounded mx-auto d-block img-fluid aligncenter wp-image-462 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/CA899901-6203-4454-BE9D-A359360C650B-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/CA899901-6203-4454-BE9D-A359360C650B-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/CA899901-6203-4454-BE9D-A359360C650B-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/CA899901-6203-4454-BE9D-A359360C650B-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Put the dress fabric under the needle, right face up, 1cm away from the line you sew for the elastic tunnel.<\/li>\n<li>Back-stich at the beginning, sew in a straight line all along the tube, then back-stich at the end &#8211; the elastic thread needs to be well secured into place!<\/li>\n<li>Raise the needle, move it 1cm below, and then proceed as previously<\/li>\n<li>One single bobbin should cover 5 to 8 lines, do count as it will make your life easier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The gathering effect should progress like this. Do try your dress at the end of each bobbin to decide when you want to stop shirring. Do not forget to leave enough thread at both beginning and end. Pull on the threads to create gathers, until the width of the ruffle fabric matches that of the dress.
