So my recommendations are the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>let them choose the fabric<\/strong>;<\/li><li><strong>discuss shape AT LENGTH with them<\/strong> &#8211; contrary to me, my daughter hates anything that is too adjusted; and she won&#8217;t wear anything above the knee either;<\/li><li><strong>if one works make several of the same!<\/strong> But with easy variations &#8211; pre-approved by your teenager of course!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You may remember <strong>I had used the Cara pattern for myself previously<\/strong>, with limited success &#8211; for me, the dress was far too wide at the shoulders! Not even to mention the agony of wearing this fabric! (see <a href=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/2019\/02\/13\/cara-quick-easy-but-not-hugely-satisfactory\/\">this article<\/a> for my moaning about it all). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"769\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/55459A66-F4B6-4B83-9F23-AD64AED1FCEC-769x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1723\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/55459A66-F4B6-4B83-9F23-AD64AED1FCEC-769x1024.jpeg 769w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/55459A66-F4B6-4B83-9F23-AD64AED1FCEC-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/55459A66-F4B6-4B83-9F23-AD64AED1FCEC-768x1022.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/55459A66-F4B6-4B83-9F23-AD64AED1FCEC.jpeg 1285w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully my daughter has more standard shoulders than me; and otherwise is currently exactly my size; so I managed to reuse the same pattern pieces, without re-cutting &#8211; that said,<strong> having two girls, I never cut into a pattern directly, I copy it on tracing paper so that I can reuse it in a different size if need be<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So &#8211; <strong>version 1: I used a French terry fabric<\/strong>, super soft on the inside, and with silver sparkle on the outside.
