And I just think he is <strong>the most handsome thing I&#8217;ve ever knitted<\/strong>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"769\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/22670462-356B-4CC9-9E2D-0BC74A0BBB51-769x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/22670462-356B-4CC9-9E2D-0BC74A0BBB51-769x1024.jpeg 769w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/22670462-356B-4CC9-9E2D-0BC74A0BBB51-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/22670462-356B-4CC9-9E2D-0BC74A0BBB51-768x1022.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/22670462-356B-4CC9-9E2D-0BC74A0BBB51-1154x1536.jpeg 1154w, https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/22670462-356B-4CC9-9E2D-0BC74A0BBB51.jpeg 1285w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I had been eying Untangling Knots knitting designs for years<\/strong>, after discovering them on <a href=\"http:\/\/dollyclackett.blogspot.com\/p\/blog-page.html\">Dolly Clackett&#8217;s blog<\/a> &#8211; if you don&#8217;t know her yet, Roisin has <strong>the most amazing collection of handmade 50&#8217;s-inspired dresses, and her Untangling Knots cardigans perfectly compliment them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I even bought the Chuck pattern two years ago but&#8230; I just couldn&#8217;t understand anything!<\/strong> I tried but I couldn&#8217;t even understand how to cast-on the initial stitches. Being a top-down, French knitter, I did not understand the bottom-up construction method, the logic of the pattern, the abbreviations&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>But as I progressed in my knitting over the past few months, here are a few things that helped:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>First, I discovered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knittinghelp.com\/videos\/knitting-glossary\">this amazingly helpful website<\/a><\/strong>, which explains all the abbreviations and shows you in photos and videos how to make all possible stitches &#8211; this has been like a miracle in my knitter&#8217;s life!<\/li><li><strong>Second, I started knitting from patterns<\/strong> (previously I just knitted pattern-free shawls and randomly self-drafted jumpers) &#8211; I found the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alongavecanna.com\/en_US\/categorie-produit\/english-patterns\/\">Along Avec Anna patterns<\/a> particularly straightforward<\/strong> for pattern beginner. I started with the <a href=\"https:\/\/sixmignons.com\/en\/2020\/01\/10\/first-knitted-lace-the-blossom-shawl\/\">Blossom shawl<\/a> and followed-up with two Blossom jumpers (soon to be blogged).<\/li><li><strong>Third,<\/strong> <strong>the logic of the Untangling Knots patterns finally became clear<\/strong>. They seem to follow this logic: start from the back, keep on hold when at the under-sleeve level, attach the front, start knitting in round when the back level is reached, then add the sleeves. This techniques results in a completely seamless knit and a perfect finish. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So here I am, having completed my first Chuck in  bit under three weeks. colour 34 Heather, 4 skeins; and Drops Kid Silk &#8211; colour 17 Dark Rose, 3 skeins<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>I used #4 needle for everything except the ribbing, where I used #3.5<\/strong> (this is my only deviation from the pattern).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Not much else to say except that you&#8217;re likely to see a number of Untangling Knots knits on the blog in the coming months&#8230;
